  • Yes! Psilocybin (pronounced “sil-O-sigh-bin”) has shown effectiveness in addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, end-of-life distress, addiction, and eating disorders among other conditions as well as supporting emotional well-being.

The Oregon Health Authority has published a review of the literature here.

Psilocybin has an excellent safety profile related to its very high lethal dose and lack of addictive properties. The most common physical side effects can include headache, nausea, and transient increase in blood pressure and heart rate. The primary risks with psilocybin use are psychological safety with the most commonly reported symptoms being anxiety and confusion during use. Working with an experienced guide can help you evaluate your personal risk factors as well as reduce the potential for psychological harm through preparation, close monitoring throughout the session, and integration support afterwards.

  • While mushroom experiences can be magical and healing in recreational contexts, there is additional magic when we set out with intention and receive the undivided attention and support of a skilled facilitator who acts as witness to our unfolding.

It is often said that as soon as you say “yes” to the journey, the journey begins. When you decide to intentionally work with another person in a ceremonial context, your consciousness gets the memo: “Hello! Let’s do something different! Focus. Here. Now.” This can enhance the attention you give to your intentions and facilitate deeper change.

Additionally, you may carry parts of yourself that help you stay safe and manage the day to day tasks of being human. When you decide to journey with facilitator support, these parts can take a break knowing that somebody else is there to keep the environment and you safe. In doing so, your psyche can focus on what you’re really here for – looking more deeply within!

  • Preparatory and integration sessions can be conducted either virtually or in-person. Journeys must take place at one of two licensed service centers in Portland. I currently work with Chariot Space and Fern Love.

  • Great question! I do this in three primary ways:

    (1) I maintain ongoing mentorship and professional support through consultation groups and continuing education.

    (2) I am transparent with trainings I have participated in and emphasize informed consent in my own practice.

    (3) I engage in reciprocity through supporting local community organizations with 10% of proceeds from every session.

If you have any questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact me directly as well as my licensing entity through the State of Oregon. You may make direct reports about psilocybin facilitators to: 1-971-673-0316 or Compliance.Psilocybin@oha.oregon.gov or OPS Compliance Program PO Box 14450 Portland, OR 97293-1450.

  • Yes! Oregon passed the nation’s first law legalizing Psilocybin Services under state measure 109. This law governs the manufacturing, transportation, delivery, sale, and purchase of psilocybin products and the provision of psilocybin services within licensed service centers with licensed and trained facilitators.

  • Insurance coverage does not currently exist for Psilocybin services.

  • Clients do not need to live in Oregon to access psilocybin services. To access psilocybin services, an individual must be 21 years of age or older. A prescription or medical referral is not required; however, it is important to consult with a medical provider if you have any health conditions you are concerned about. Dr. Sentell can help you discern if a separate medical consultation would be helpful.

A client may be found ineligible to receive services if they are experiencing current, active ideation of harm to self or others, have taken Lithium within 30 days, or have been diagnosed with active psychosis.

  • I offer all of my services on a sliding scale following an Equity Pricing Model, so that clients can choose what feels most accessible to their budget. Here is an example of how to determine where you might fall in this framework.

  • Ketamine Assisted Therapy is offered under my license as a Naturopathic Physician and takes place at The Ren Clinic in Portland, OR. You can learn more about it here: https://therenclinic.com/how-we-help/ketamine-assisted-psychotherapy/
